Julie is a firm owner and manager. She advises clients, manages investment portfolios, and leads investment research as the head of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Julie has been managing investment portfolios since 2005, when she joined Hanson & Doremus. She left the firm in 2009 when she moved to the Bay Area in California, then returned to working remotely in 2012 with a focus on equity research. Before joining Hanson+Doremus, Julie was a vice president in Citigroup’s foreign exchange group and before that, she did research and policy outreach for a national macroeconomic think tank.
Julie is a CFA® charterholder and CFP® certificant. She got her MBA from Stanford, where she also got a Masters degree in East Asian Studies. She got her undergraduate degree at Harvard, where she studied art history.
After a decade in California, Julie moved back to Burlington in late 2019. She is a member of the Investment Committee that oversees the Vermont Community Foundation’s investment assets. She also serves on the boards of ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, and the Burlington City Arts Foundation. In the past, she also served as Vice Chair of the board of Easter Seals Bay Area in Northern California.
