Mark joined Hanson+Doremus in 2023 and, alongside Neil and Anne, runs the Investment Committee and research function. He is also responsible for portfolio management and client relationships and serves as editor of the Thoughts newsletter.
Prior to joining Hanson+Doremus, Mark spent six years on the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s open market trading desk, where he executed over a trillion dollars in purchases of mortgage-backed securities (MBS), led analysis related to the Fed’s MBS holdings, and briefed policymakers on financial market developments. He also covered ESG (environmental, social, and governance) and sustainable debt markets for the Federal Reserve System.
Mark holds a BA in Spanish literature and Russian from Bates College, an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and an MA in international economics and finance from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He is a CFA® Charterholder.
Originally from Portland, Maine, Mark has lived and worked in Ukraine, Russia, Bolivia, Italy, Argentina, and for three years in Equatorial Guinea. He lives in Randolph, Vermont with his wife and three kids and enjoys backcountry skiing, camping, poetry, and Roadhouse Radio on KEXP. As a supporter of Liverpool Football Club, he understands the importance of community and that “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.
